CAMOVER 2013

COME OUT AND PLAY!
"CAMOVER is a game for everybody who hates CCTV."

CCTV: "an instrument of social control and the production of discipline; the production of 'anticipatory conformity'; the certainty of rapid deployment to observed deviance and; the compilation of individualised dossiers of the monitored population."

Idea of the game

The idea of the game is to destroy as much cctv-cams as possible. For this we decided to announce a competition. For joining in you need a group with a name that starts with command…, briagde…, etc. and ends with a historic person. The only other requirement for you is to be aware of internet-safety.
Now you should not only do the action as you do all the time but also make a documentation with at least a report published on german indymedia or linksunten.indymedia.org. If you have pictures, videos or other evidence for the destroyed cameras, you get extra-credits. CAMOVER.blogsport.de will give you the attention your action deserves.

The CAMOVER game ends with the 19 february 2013 – the day when the european police congress in Berlin is being held. The winner may walk in the first line of the demonstration against the cops on 16 february and crouch down to avoid being hit by flying cams. (source: camover.blogsport.de)

23

23 is a 1998 German drama thriller film about a young hacker Karl Koch, who died on 23 May 1989, a presumed suicide. It was directed by Hans-Christian Schmid, who also participated in screenwriting. The title derives from the protagonist's obsession with the number 23, a phenomenon often described as apophenia. Although the film was well received by critics and audiences, its accuracy has been vocally disputed by some witnesses to the real-life events on which it was based. Schmid subsequently co-authored a book that tells the story of the making of 23 and also details the differences between the movie and the actual events. - wikipedia

Karl Werner Lothar Koch (July 22, 1965 – ca. May 23, 1989)

The movie's plot is based on the true story of a group of young computer hackers from Hannover, Germany. In the late 1980s the orphaned Karl Koch invests his heritage in a flat and a home computer. At first he dials up to bulletin boards to discuss conspiracy theories inspired by his favorite novel, R.A. Wilson's "Illuminatus", but soon he and his friend David start breaking into government and military computers. Pepe, one of Karl's rather criminal acquaintances senses that there is money in computer cracking - he travels to east Berlin and tries to contact the KGB. FREE UNLIKE U

From unlike-u.com:

ON OUR OWN BEHALF: Free stream available for you!

From now on we make the full version of UNLIKE U available to all of you here. As we spent a lot of time and put in a lot of lifeblood on working on that movie we would like to give everybody the opportunity to see the outcome.

Maybe some of you have noticed that we as the moviemakers and producers are recently fighting legally for the ongoing distribution of UNLIKE U.

The Berlin transport company (BVG) has sued us in order to refrain us from distributing the movie regarding the places the action documented in UNLIKE U took place in.
To understand all of this you’ve got to see the movie yourself.

Recently more and more people are asking how they could support us.
Therefore we opened a support account for legal fees and for the preservation of UNLIKE U.

Thanks to everyone who is down with us.

KRAFTERMAN - MUTOID

In 1989, after a number of police raids on their warehouse in King's Cross, they left the country and travelled to Germany where they became notorious for building giant sculptures out of old machinery and car parts, one of which was a giant figure, utilizing a VW Beetle for the chest, doing a 'v-sign' over the Berlin Wall. The authorities went totally paranoid over it. "Major fun" says a mutoid-member!

--
"What a massive thing. Can you recognize the VW-Beetle in the centre? Well as you can see me in the corner down, I was amazed, when in 1989 - just before the Berlin Wall came down - I found myself in collaboration with the builders of this wonderful giant. The concept was Robin Cooke's and the MUTOID WASTE team. It was meant as a gift to the East and West Berliners and should pass through the wall. This 'peace and love project' was carried out during a three week camp at Görlitzer Park and without any monetary help, only scrap materials were used. "

--

"My all time favourite has to be 'Volkswagen-Man', his chest made from a Volkswagen Beetle. We left it looking over the Berlin Wall; six weeks later the wall came crashing down. The sculpture was undoubtedly good but I shall never forget the hysterical fun we had doing it. East German soldiers were running around interrogating us, they were totally freaked out by what we might do. The Droid was offering a Silver Bird of Peace to the East (a VW bonnet cut in half for the wings) and they honestly believed we were going to fire it over the wall with a secret rocket."

MUTATE & SURVIVE

"mutating the refuse of modern culture into the Marvelous"

Notorious Tankhenge built by the mutoid waste company guys, from German Panzers. You see it framing the Reichstag in 1992, after the collapse of the Wall in Berlin.

In 1986 the police put a violent stop to a free festival at Stonehenge. Stonehenge became heritage listed and was fenced off as we know it today. Mutoid Waste Co. responded accordingly.

"If you want the Stones, you can keep them... We'll build our own!" and in 1987 at Glastonbury Festival a set of three 'Carhenges' were built, the ethos 'Mutate and Survive' was born.

"The 'Henge' theme has run through our work ever since that day in 1986.  Mutoid Waste made a rapid departure from the UK (runnin' from the authorities). They left Engeland to live in Berlin (Tacheless), but took their art with them. As they worked their way across Europe thousands of people encountered the characters of Mutoid Waste's world.
